Whether you’re a capsule wardrobe convert or take a more-is-more approach to your clothing collection, H&M’s new in section covers all bases. From your go-to work trousers and best jeans, to the ultimate wedding guest dress, the retailer always delivers.
For me, what H&M do best is your basics. The T-shirts, knitwear and bags are staples in my wardrobe (and have been for the 10 or more years I’ve been shopping there). And, in the effort to be a more eco-conscious consumer, I love that you can donate your old unwanted clothes in store and get a voucher back. I have a one item in, one item out rule for my wardrobe, so H&M makes that even easier to stick to.
If you’re a stranger to the wonders of the Swedish label, though I highly doubt that you are, you really can't go wrong by starting with foundation wardrobe pieces (think: blazers that you’ll re-wear again and again) before you look to the trending styles everyone else is adding to cart (that off-the-shoulder stripe frock).
Though H&M fashion is iconic in its own right, its viral collections such as the recent Mugler collaboration certainly help. It's a firm favourite among the fashion crowd, too, for its interchangeable silhouettes that are – in the best way – unnoticeably high-street. Take Lois Opoku, for example, who recently sported a summery crochet H&M midi skirt and made it look ten times more expensive than it probably was. Sonia Lyson took a leaf out of the same book by taking some H&M jogging bottoms and creating an ensemble that could easily be spotted at Wimbledon.
Sure there are options like Zara and ASOS, but, take it from me, H&M is particularly good at the moment, and whatever the occasion is you can guarantee you'll find what you're looking for either in-store or online.
